BriefingWire.com, 4/22/2021 - This press release is to shed light on what a Total solar eclipse is and inform the readers about the important measures if they are planning in 2021 for Total solar for tours.

What is a total solar eclipse?

A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon is exactly between Earth and the sun and completely blocking sun rays from reaching us. This results in the casting of a huge shadow of the Moon on Earth and resulting in complete darkness as it is in the night.

It is a mesmerizing phenomenon to witness as despite being 400 times smaller than the Sun, the moon appears to be of the same size as that of the Sun.

Unfortunately, this amazing event lasts only for a few minutes and during this, the sky becomes considerably dark and offering a spectacular experience to the viewers.

When the Moon starts to cover the sun, gradually the appearance of the sun turns into small light-beads due to the bumpy surface of the moon. These beads are called Bailey's Beads. The sight becomes even more beautiful when only one bead is left, this makes the sun look like a diamond ring and this is called the diamond ring effect.

The phenomenon of Total Solar Eclipse is very rare as compared to the other solar eclipse type i.e. the Partial Solar Eclipse and the Annular Solar Eclipse.

Now, things to keep in mind for a solar eclipse tour:

1- The first rule is the obvious one that is not to look directly at the sun during the eclipse. Almost we all know this but many of us do not follow.

2- Do not use homemade filters or any ordinary filter or sunglasses as even very dark sunglasses may not be able to protect your eyes. Instead, use special-purpose solar filters like eclipse glasses or handheld solar viewers. They are specially made for the job and can do it well.

3- It really important that you read the instructions for the filter, follow them yourself, and make sure that kids are also following them.

4- At any stage of the eclipse, do not look at the sun through a camera, telescope, binoculars, or any other optical device. Also, not to use solar filters with these devices, as concentrated solar rays will damage them and can cause serious eye injury.

5- Inspect your solar filter before use and if it is scratched or damaged do not use it and make sure no one else uses it.

6- Pinhole projection is a safe way to view the solar eclipse.
