Wendy Bjork Announces A Congressional Roundtable on Radiation Exposure on May 26, 2026
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Too many veterans and families have carried the invisible cost of radiation exposure in silence. On May 26 in Las Vegas, their voices will finally be heard.

BriefingWire.com, 5/18/2026 - Congressional Roundtable to Address Radiation Exposure Among Veterans, Families, and Communities:

Cold War Nuclear Weapons Technicians and advocates gather in Las Vegas for a critical national discussion

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — A congressional roundtable focused on radiation exposure among servicemembers, veterans, families, and impacted communities will take place Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the National Atomic Testing Museum in Las Vegas, NV. Admission to the museum will be free for attendees participating in the meeting.

The event is being held on behalf of Representative Mark Takano (CA), with additional members of Congress potentially participating. The roundtable will examine the lasting effects of radiation exposure connected to the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR), K2 military operations, Downwinders, Pacific Island communities, and Nuclear Weapons Technicians across all branches of the U.S. military, including synonymous specialties and occupational titles within the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force.

The discussion will also explore the generational and familial impacts of exposure, as well as the ongoing challenges faced by veterans and communities seeking recognition, healthcare support, and accountability.

“This roundtable represents an important opportunity to bring visibility to stories that have remained unheard for far too long,” said representatives connected to the effort. “The goal is to ensure that veterans, their families, and affected communities are part of a meaningful national conversation regarding radiation exposure and its long-term consequences.”

Members of the public who live in or will be near Las Vegas during the event are encouraged to attend in support of tsosproject.com, an organization advocating for Cold War-era nuclear weapons technicians and related occupational specialties.

According to event organizers, each panel participant will deliver a three-minute introduction before congressional leadership opens the discussion with guided questions and broader dialogue. Audience questions may also be accepted as time allows.

Confirmed Participants and Organizational Representatives Include:

• Keith Keifer, National Association of Atomic Veterans

• Rick Workman, The Sound of Silence Project

• Dave Crete, The Invisible Enemy

• Steve Nelson, Stronghold Freedom Foundation

• Mary Grace Velasco, Disabled American Veterans

• Pam Walker, The American Legion
