1/. BADENOCH:
In a letter "to the people of Clacton", Badenoch wrote: "Nigel Farage has called this by-election not to help you, but to help himself. Mr Farage wants the people of Clacton to settle his problems for him. He wants to point to you and say, 'even after the £5m scandal, Clacton still chose me.
She went on to say "When the proper process has run its course and there is a genuine contest, we will be there.

When you add to this the quote from Badenoch "I will put forward a serious candidate who understands that representing Clacton is a job — someone who turns up, listens, holds meetings and works for the people who live here" - JUST DAYS AFTER NOMINATING AN EX-NEO-NAZI SUPPORTER who served time in jail to represent HER party you have to wonder: Just What Does Kemi Badenoch Believe Is The Correct Standard She Judges People By - and how much longer will the Tory Party tolerate her for?
*That is not leadership; it is abdication dressed up as principle*
Then however the BBC's totally unprofessional article compounds the contradiction in their report by repeating Reform UK’s statement without the context required to inform the public.
2/. FARAGE:
Reform claims voters should “send a resounding message to the failing political establishment” by voting for Nigel Farage — a man currently under investigation by the parliamentary standards commissioner.
The article quotes this line as if it stands alone, without acknowledging that Reform has faced multiple investigations of its own, including more than one involving Farage personally.
If the Conservatives “turned their backs on Clacton” by not fielding a candidate, what does it mean when Reform’s own leader is being scrutinised for a £5m gift? The BBC does not say.
Farage cannot simultaneously present himself as the antidote to the political establishment while sitting as part of it. You cannot claim to be outside the system while benefiting from it, campaigning within it, and being investigated by its oversight bodies.
*That is the very definition of political establishment behaviour*
3/. THE BBC:
The BBC article highlights contradictions in Conservative messaging but fails to apply the same scrutiny to Reform’s narrative. If you quote a party accusing others of betraying democracy, you must also mention the investigations into that party’s own conduct.
Otherwise, you are not informing the public — you are amplifying selective outrage. So, here we have two extreme right wing politicians, both intending to leave the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) if ever the British public allowed them into power.
RIGHT WING PARTIES: Clacton deserves better than contradictory messaging from both sides. It deserves honesty, consistency, and accountability — not political theatre disguised as principle.
BBC: Britain deserves a more *public service* approach to their own poor standards of Democracy and Due Impartiality than the public are getting today?
