FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEPRN Staffers and Home Health Care Agency's President Sounds Alarm For Immediate Intervention in Wake of Cyber Attack on "CHANGE Healthcare" Payment System
[DE, March 4, 2024]—In a bold move to safeguard the interests of home health care providers and the vulnerable populations they serve including Veterans, Earnestine Brown, President of PRN Staffers and Home Health Care Agency, has taken the lead as a vocal public advocate in the wake of a recent cyber attack on the "CHANGE Healthcare" payment system. The attack, which occurred around February 21, 2023, has sent shockwaves through the industry, leaving providers unable to pay their workers or cover operational expenses.
Despite the severity of the breach, "CHANGE Healthcare" neglected to promptly inform providers, exacerbating the crisis. While hospitals and pharmacies were fast-tracked for rapid consideration to have their funds released, the lack of communication with providers has left countless families, particularly the homebound who rely on these services, in jeopardy.
Ms. Brown has passionately appealed to key stakeholders including the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), the Governor of Delaware, and the Insurance Commissioner to take immediate action to rectify this crisis. Families are facing unimaginable hardships, and some businesses are on the brink of permanent closure because of the payment stoppage.
"It is a shame that in our great nation, Americans, especially our veterans who rely on our services, are suffering in this manner," remarked Ms. Brown.
Earnestine, a former R.N., indicated if this stoppage lingers there will be another health crisis created because clients will not have access to services to bathe, clothe, and feed them because most are without close family support systems. The human suffering will be rapidly felt in homes where resources are already strained and could overlap into sectors.
Ms. Brown emphasized that intervention is critical and called upon the media to remove the blackout and start shining a light on this crisis that is affecting millions of families. "The silence of the media on this issue is deafening," she added.
In this time of urgency, PRN Staffers and Home Health Care Agency stands united with other providers in advocating for swift and decisive action to address the aftermath of the cyber attack on the "CHANGE Healthcare" payment system.
