1. North Korea — 100% state control (since 1948)

2/. China — near-total political control (1949–present)

China does not have 100% control, but it has near-total control of political news.

3/. Russia — total control of political TV, partial control of print/digital (2000–present)

Russia is not North Korea — but it is the closest major country to full political-news control.

4/. Iran — high political control, but not total (1979–present)

Iran has strong state control, but not absolute. (47 years)

5/. Democratic Countries - State Control does not exist - apart from:

United Kingdom - it does not have a 'formal' State Control grip on Political News but in the early 1930's had virtual domination of Political News with 2 British Owned newspapers - The Daily Express and the Daily Mail, both supporters of the Conservative Government - and from 2010 onwards this 'control. The media was further enabled by the then Conservative Government and exists to this day.

THE QUESTION THEN IS:

1/. Was it discussed in parliament in any of those 90+ years - NO.

2/. Was this put to the population by any single party in their manifesto before an election in those 90+ years - NO.

3/. Did, and Does, any party today believe that this is effectively undemocratic in its application and effect on the British Public and its interests - APPARENTLY NOT

MEDIA THEN AND NOW:

THEN: Daily Mail “Hurrah for the Blackshirts!” (1934) - Daily Express soft coverage of "Hitler’s rise"

NOW: 90+ Years History of Right Wing Daily Mail and Daily Express nationalism, anti-refugee sentiment, and admiration for “strong leadership”.

Nothing has changed with the 'right wing media apart from even more repeated amplification of that news now exponentially on BBC 24/7 news.

BUT in the 1930's: What happened was with the strong character of the British Public they REJECTED those extremes in the 30's - even before the horrors of World War 1 occurred. :

HOWEVER in 2026: Too many people are now accepting and giving in to that corrosive angry narrative - Perhaps now they know why this imbalance of one-sided Political News has survived this long - they just might want to demand their Government and their Politicians start acting ON behalf of the 'voters' and make them put a stop to it finally through Parliament.

AT LEAST THE CHILDREN STILL NOT BORN THEN MIGHT HAVE A MORE COMMUNAL HAPPY LIFE.
