The veteran, whose car had been out of commission from August 2025 to February 2026, struggled to get the car repaired. After hearing of the veteran’s need, MVA, the nonprofit, collaborated with Passport Nissan to resolve the crisis for the veteran. Following their evaluation of the car, Passport Nissan provided expert technicians and parts at a reduced cost, ensuring the vehicle was restored to safe working conditions. This collaborative initiative with the company and the nonprofit reflects a shared commitment to honoring veterans and helping them overcome everyday challenges.

“Helping those who served us best is what we do. Reliable transportation can be life-changing for our veterans,” said retired Air Force Colonel, Dr. Mary M. Gillam, the nonprofit’s founder. “We are grateful to Passport Nissan of Alexandria, Virginia for the car company’s generosity and expertise, which made this repair possible.”

The veteran was overwhelmed and expressed sincere heartfelt thanks, noting the impact this assistance has had on her ability to purchase groceries, attend medical appointments, reconnect with her church activities, and serve in her community. A quiet and humble person, the veteran is well-known for her service in women shelters, and with the homeless throughout the DMV.
