Los Angeles Ban On Dispensaries Takes Effect
Medical Cannabis Patient Advocates Speak-out Against Prop D

BriefingWire.com, 12/15/2013 - LOS ANGELES, CA – On Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at 12 p.m. Patient Advocacy Network and Americans For Safe Access is hosting a speak-out and press conference at Los Angeles City Hall, 200 N. Spring Street, 90012, to address the threat to safe access as a result of Prop D.

December 17, 2013, is the 180-day mark from the implementation of Prop D and many believe to be the drop-dead date for collectives to be incompliance with the very restrictive and confusing guidelines. Of the 134 collectives recognized by the City as potentially being eligible under the limited immunity, it’s reported that fewer than 50 have been able to find a compliant location.

“Prop D has created a coercive monopoly where prices have gone up and quality down,” states Degé Coutee, president of PAN. “Patients report they are returning to the black market. The City is missing revenue and costing thousands of jobs that were held mainly be disabled people. These patients won’t be able to find a job elsewhere; they’re back on the system. It’s sad,” continues Coutee.
