Philadelphia. July 24, 2024. Without question, America is at an unprecedented inflection point, a pivotal moment that encapsulates the essence of democracy, progress, and the unyielding spirit of its people. As we witness an elderly sitting president step aside, paving the way for the first Jamaican Asian woman to lead the Democratic Party ticket as candidate for president, we are reminded of the fundamental ideals upon which this nation was built: equality, opportunity, and the relentless pursuit of a more perfect union. However, we cannot overlook the gross negligence on the southern border that is costing Americans billions, and our personal safety has never been more challenged. While America is ready for a Woman president just as other countries have elected women leaders we cannot however, afford to have a repeat of the failed policies carry on for another 4 years. We simply do not know who is in this country that is until someone is hurt.
In the annals of American history, this moment stands as a testament to our ability to evolve, to embrace diversity, and to champion the rights of every citizen regardless of race, gender, or creed. Wonderful. But let's not get lost in the slippery words of flattery, America needs to secure its borders and aggressively expel every illegal person who has committed a crime on U.S. soil and initiate a restart to enter. We are a nation of laws...
The decision of an elderly president to step aside gracefully before the camera, we know he is forced to step down and, certainly the nation wishes him the best as he navigates this cycle and continues to get the best treatment for his declining health. President Biden could have insisted to stay on the ticket, but his decision underscores the principle that leadership is not about clinging to power but about recognizing when the time has come to pass the torch to a new generation. It is a decision steeped in wisdom and humility, reflecting a profound respect for the democratic process and the will of the people.
Now, as Harris stands poised to potentially become the first Jamaican Asian woman to lead a major political party’s ticket in a national election, Harris represents not only the culmination of her own journey but also a beacon of hope for millions of Americans. Her candidacy symbolizes the limitless possibilities that exist within our democracy, where anyone, regardless of background, can rise to the highest levels of leadership. We may not agree on many things but we can all agree that America is a great place. Our people are wonderful.
As we look towards the future, it is clear that America is at a crossroads. The choices we make in the coming months and years will shape the trajectory of our nation for generations to come. Will we continue to uphold the values of equality and justice that have defined us as a nation? Will we embrace the opportunity to build a more inclusive and equitable society?
My prayer is that we embrace the freedom to express our opinion but let's talk the loudest at the ballot box. Rise, engage, this is the beauty of this republic - we get to participate. Go be great.
