(Houston, Texas) — Caroline Kane, the candidate for Congress in District 7, has won her runoff election, clearing the path towards the general election as the Republican Nominee where she will challenge incumbent Lizzie Fletcher. Much credit goes to former CD 7 primary candidate, Carolyn Bryant; her endorsement helped bring our total above Kenneth Omoruyi’s in the runoff. The campaign volunteers knocked on 16,000 doors, personally sent thousands of e-mails and texts to their neighbor-constituents in the district, fighting an uphill battle even during the Memorial Day Weekend. Terrible storms struck the region prior to early voting, causing massive power-outages and heavy damage throughout the district. Kane’s volunteers never wavered. The campaign itself sent out 144,000 text messages in the days leading up to, and throughout the election.
The opposing candidate has called for a recount given his loss by 44 votes certified by the Texas Secretary of State last week: 2539-Kane, 2495-Omoruyi.
“It is going to cost him a lot of money since his campaign cannot pay for the recount; however, in our debate he said he would support my win. Experts we have spoken to stated that any change to vote counts was highly unlikely given this low-turnout election. We are confident in this victory.” said Kane. Meanwhile in National News, Taral Patel a candidate for City Council in Fort Bend County was arrested by the Texas Rangers for a fraudulent Facebook account under the name Antonio Scalywag who also posted support for Kenneth during the race.
"Our nation faces significant cultural, national security, generational, and financial threats. It is time for leaders who will uphold our Constitutional promises and fight for the rights of every American," Kane stated in her victory speech. "I am honored to carry the mantle of true Constitutional conservatism into this election, representing the industrious citizens of District 7, I am not doing this to ‘be somebody’, I am doing this to serve the American people."
