Summer is not over yet, and it can be a great time to help your child get ahead and improve their reading skills. Studies show that children who don’t read over the summer can experience a “learning loss” and actually forget some of the skills and topics they learned during school. Reading over the summer can help keep their mind sharp and even give them a leg up on the next school year.It doesn’t matter what the material is, as long as your child is encouraged to read at least 30 minutes a day. Give them incentives to read like taking them outside or giving them their favorite snack when they’ve finished reading. This encourages the will to read independently as well.
Don’t let your child’s education go to waste over the summer. Read and expand their imagination!
