CARLSBAD, CA – November 13, 2009 – QuadAxis announced today the launch of its plug computing device product line and development platform, featuring the QuadPlug and QuadPC (patents pending) and running QuadMix, a modified open-source operating system. QuadPlug, a smaller embedded computer complete with Gigabit Ethernet and USB 2.0 ports enabling both networking and connectivity to the Internet, is based on Marvell’s ARM build SheevaPlug®. Users can store or manage all of their digital assets including data, files, photos, videos, and music locally, then choose to connect to them via QuadPlug with the anywhere/anytime access that the web enables and without the vulnerability or ownership issues inherent in some hosted services.
An even smaller device, our QuadPC, with its 4 GB flash drive design, easily facilitates the recycling of older or outdated computing hardware with minimal system requirements (512 RAM, 50 GB HD). Breathing new life into old computers is as easy as “plug and play” with QuadPC. The QuadPC can also be used in data recovery situations or emergency reboots.
Both QuadAxis’ plug computing devices feature QuadMix, a modified Linux distribution with pre-configured and pre-integrated applications, drivers, firmware, plug-ins, add-ons and many other tools providing greatly enhanced usability and a more secure, intuitive user experience. Developers have the option to further customize QuadMix through its open-source development kit.
The QuadPlug and QuadPC are eco-friendly in the sense that they consume very little energy but deliver outstanding results without fans or other cooling apparatus native to normal computer construction. Both the QuadPlug and QuadPC are available for purchase through the company website.
QuadAxis believes its plug computing devices with QuadMix bring a unique set of benefits to its customers. “Savvy consumers and businesses will find our compact plug computers to be significantly easier to use, cheaper, greener, and more versatile than prevailing alternatives in the marketplace,” says Nir Daliot, Co-Founder and CEO of QuadAxis. “Rather than spending hundreds of dollars on new upgrades or licensing fees, why not have the same computing capability for a fraction of the cost? QuadAxis’ plug computers offer a very affordable, very flexible, eco-conscious option to brand-name computers and their sky-high price tags.”
