Wiltshire, UK. Music Bugs, who provide preschool music and singing classes around the UK have joined forces with Tommy’s for a nationwide Singathon event to raise funds for research into the causes of premature birth, stillbirth and other pregnancy problems. The week-long event will run from the 9th – 13th May in Music Bugs sessions across the UK.Claire Bennett, Managing Director of Music Bugs, said, ‘We are privileged to work with Tommy’s whose pioneering research work and support for parents is so vital. Our network of franchisees will be singing songs from around the world in their regular classes and we are encouraging parents to sponsor their children to take part. Our aim is to raise £40,000 for Tommy’s to support the work their new research centre will embark on which opens later this month. Any parents who do not attend our classes but would still like to get involved with Singathon would be more than welcome. Further information about the event and how to get involved can be found at: http://www.tommys.org/singathon’.
Tommy’s, will be opening their fourth research centre on the 26th April 2016. It will be the UK’s first research centre dedicated to early pregnancy problems and will be the largest research centre of its kind in Europe. The new centre will comprise a partnership of three universities: The University of Birmingham, The University of Warwick (in conjunction with University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust), and Imperial College London. The three sites will run specialist clinics enabling 24,000 women per year to access treatment and support and participate in Tommy’s research studies.
