The Memphis Grizzlies made it into the playoffs by the skin of their teeth this season as a seventh seed in the Western Conference in the National Basketball Association. Their first round opponent this year is the fearsome two seed Oklahoma City Thunder. So far, the Grizzlies have been holding their own to the delight of Memphis fans everywhere.

However, after finishing the season with a respectable 50-32 win-loss record, they were only able to garner a seventh seed in the highly competitive Western Conference.

The Grizzlies first came into existence in 1995 as the Vancouver Grizzlies. After seven straight terrible seasons, during which they were never able to muster more than 23 wins in a season, the team moved to Memphis in 2001, where they are the only major professional sports team. In their new home at the FedExForum, they have grown to be one of the most feared teams in the NBA with their stifling defense.
