The campaign, also known as a direct public offering (DPO), offers local community members the opportunity to help grow Greater Boston’s urban agricultural movement. Unlike an initial public offering on a stock exchange, a DPO allows a business or non-profit organization to raise capital from a broad, non-accredited investor base.“We are so thrilled to have successfully raised one third of our fundraising goal in such a short time,” says Jessie Banhazl, CEO and founder of Green City Growers. “The money that we have raised thus far will be invested in streamlining operations to further our reach throughout the northeast region.
