SHOH Gallery is excited to announce the opening of The Photography of Harold Davis. This one-person show opens Nov 8 and runs through Nov 25, 2017 at SHOH Gallery, 700 Gilman Street, Berkeley, CA 94710 and features the brilliant, large-scale photographs of renowned photographer, artist, and author Harold Davis.

Harold Davis’s otherworldly landscapes, intensely intimate botanical images, and beautifully detailed still-lives, emit a distinctive emotive influence over the viewer, kidnapping their senses and whisking one’s imagination into dreamlike realms.

As Harold Davis notes, “A photo is a manifestation of how we see, and our vision is one of the most important characteristics of who we are.”

The Photography of Harold Davis exhibit includes works in a number of traditions, including landscapes, large-scale black and white works, and many of Harold Davis’s unique, painterly botanical images.

Harold Davis calls his work “post-photography photographic,” and notes that the floral works are the product of a hybrid digital process of his own invention, including high-key multiple exposure photography and post-production that involves digital painting. The result is a stunning look that owes something to classical botanical illustration, and something to modern digital photography, but is ultimately entirely his own.

About Harold Davis: Harold Davis is the bestselling author of numerous books about photography, including most recently “The Photographer’s Black & White Handbook,” as well as being a workshop leader locally and around the world.
