Soroptimist Foundation of Canada recognizes emerging female graduate students who intend to make their mark helping to improve the lives of women and girls in Canada. Jill Andrew, a graduate student at York University, is one of 4 women across Canada (selected out of over 400 candidates) to receive this distinction.
Jill Andrew is a lifestyle columnist with tonightnewspaper and is the founder/director of BITE ME! Toronto Int'l Body Image Film & Arts Festival. She speaks regularly on body image issues particularly fat (size, weight, shape) discrimination, fat activism, FATshion blogging (fat fashion consumer experiences both in stores and online), skin-bleaching practices, race & representation in popular culture and social media and identity.
