BriefingWire.com, 4/24/2018 - New York. Lauded composer for film and TV, Dunn Pearson, Jr. will receive the first-ever Decathlon Of Music Entertainment Award at the 2018 Orlando Urban Film Festival May 25, 2018, in Orlando, Florida.

As the first-ever Decathlon Of Music Entertainment Award for Composers and Arrangers is revealed, the 2018 OUFF will honor industry legend Dunn Pearson Jr., film, TV composer and pianist and screen his Docudrama Unhinged. As an award-winning Composer and Arranger, Dunn is lauded as one of the top African American music composers in the exclusive group along with Quincy Jones and Bernard Drayton to have major success in all genres of entertainment: Movies, Television, Broadway, Music, and Commercials.

Professionally known as the "Black Beethoven," his scoring credits include Arranger for Philadelphia International Records with legendary producers Gamble and Huff, the Orlando Film Festival award-winning best docudrama “Unhinged”, theme of the Fox TV smash "New York Undercover," the HBO movie “Head Office," Columbia Pictures box office hit "The Professional," Miramax’s “Ride”, Mario & Melvin Van Peebles "Identity Crisis," the faith-based movie “Iniquity” and the Cinecom Int. Film, starring Oscar winner Geraldine Page and featuring Oprah Winfrey, "Native Son”. Amassing 26 gold and platinum awards, Dunn produced fitness video stars Jody Watley, Joannie Greggains, and Denise Austin's ESPN show "Getting Fit". He has also met the commercial hurdle of Madison Avenue with over a dozen commercials for McDonald's, United Airlines and the highly acclaimed SUPER BOWL XXI Wendy's "Chicken Nugget" commercial featuring Kool and The Gang. He also produced and arranged for Rock-n-Rock Hall of Famers the “O’Jays”, Grammy winner D’Angelo (multiplatinum album), Grammy winner Mary J. Blige, Tony Award-winner “Melba Moore”, “Stevie Wonder”, “Stephanie Mills,” and “Teddy Pendergrass”. Orchestrated the Broadway Musical “Amen Corner” and is the first African American composer to produce a Hip-Hop commercial for McDonald's, and CEBA award winner for Wendy’s and Kellogg’s.

The festival was founded by veteran media executive Marianne Eggleston, who is replete with numerous accomplishments: she worked as the Northcentral Regional Promotions Manager for RCA, A&M, and Arista Records currently Sony/BMG Entertainment over ten years. She helped some of the biggest artists in the business gain Super Star status including Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Hall & Oates, Yanni, Police and countless others. With a BA degree in Mass Communication (film/TV/PR), she studied the craft under Melvin Van Peebles, Gary W. Goldstein, Dunn Pearson Jr., Joey Porrello etc. just to name a few.
