BriefingWire.com, 6/01/2016 - Did you know that soaking your hair in beer can boost its volume and shine? If you’ve never attempted a beer rinse (except for that one party…but let’s not talk about that) we’re here to walk you through it!

We asked the DeeLux team for their top DIY beauty treatments and tips, and it turns out that most of these ingredients are probably sitting right in your kitchen! So skip out on expensive store-bought products with harsh chemicals, and indulge yourself in these DIY beauty treatments.

Face Masks:

Honey is by far one of the most popular ingredients amongst our recommended facial masks and can be mixed different ways for varying results. As a natural antibacterial, honey works as a gentle cleanser and moisturizer.

Try:

Honey + plain organic yogurt (to gently cleanse and moisturize)

Honey + a little bit of lemon (to remove dead skin cells/clear up acne and discoloration)

Honey + few drops of tea tree oil (“Tea tree is soooo good for acne! Its very cleansing and has antibacterial properties.” – DeeLux team member Dolores)

Honey + egg whites (helps tighten pores and remove excess oil)

If you’re looking for a way to minimize black heads, our team member Isaura recommends this facial mask:

Nutmeg spice + a bit of whole milk (This mask acts as an exfoliator and cleanser, helps remove black heads, and smells delicious!” -Isaura)

For any one of these masks, we recommend you blend ingredients together, apply to your face and let sit for 15-20 mins, then wash away with warm water.

Hair Treatments:

Coconut oil seems to take the cake when it comes to hair treatments!

Try:

Coconut oil + a few drops of rosemary essential oil + a few drops of jojoba oil (“Rosemary is really good for your hair; it strengthens it and makes it super shiny. Jojoba oil is also good for a dry scalp. Since I started using this mask, my wavy hair is so much healthier and less dry!” -Dolores)

Just plain coconut oil! (This works really well for damaged hair. All you have to do is slather some on your hair, root to tip, and leave it on for as long as you want (you can even keep it in overnight with a shower cap on!) Just shampoo and condition it out and your hair will be much healthier and shinier.” -Amanda)

We didn’t believe it at first either, but you can also use flat beer to treat oily or frizzy/damaged hair! Since beer is made from yeast, hops and malt, it contains lots of nutrients that will give your hair volume and shine. A light beer will work great and you’ll need to open it first and let it sit for 30 mins to 1 hour (and try not to drink it!).

Beer Rinse (Wash your hair first, then rinse it with beer. Let the beer sit in it for a couple minutes then rinse with water)

Beer Hair Mask: 1 tablespoon olive oil + one egg + beer (Mix ingredients together, apply it to your hair and let it sit for about 20 mins before rinsing. Mayra recommends trying out the mask while you take a bath.)

Scrubs:

This time we combine coconut oil with a little texture to create a scrub. While coconut oil moisturizes your skin, scrubs are great for exfoliation, leaving your skin unbelievably soft!

Lip Scrub: Coconut oil + brown sugar (“This scrub gets all the dead skin off and leaves your lips feeling and tasting great!” -Amanda)
