CDL, a leading IT asset disposal company, is urging organisations to ensure that data is thoroughly removed from all IT equipment before they dispose of it. They warn that many disposal techniques still leave data accessible to those with the appropriate knowledge. As of 2015, if companies fail to protect consumer data adequately, they face fines of up to five percent of global turnover or €100M, whichever is higher.

The need for such a service has been highlighted by a recent survey carried out by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
