London, UK- 7th August 2014- Computer Disposals Ltd (CDL) have teamed up with Certified Data Erasure Software vendor Tabernus. This partnership is a result of the new European Union privacy regulations, which will enshrine what is known as “right to be forgotten”.CDL, a leading IT asset disposal company, is urging organisations to ensure that data is thoroughly removed from all IT equipment before they dispose of it. They warn that many disposal techniques still leave data accessible to those with the appropriate knowledge. As of 2015, if companies fail to protect consumer data adequately, they face fines of up to five percent of global turnover or €100M, whichever is higher.
Based in Warrington, CDL provide secure IT disposal services to large corporate and private sector clients. As part of a five year agreement, CDL has formed a strategic partnership with Tabernus. The partnership will offer clients a system that allows clients to be totally confident that sensitive data has been properly destroyed to the latest IA5 standard.
The need for such a service has been highlighted by a recent survey carried out by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). The survey sampled 200 second-hand hard drives and revealed that an alarming 48% still contained information on the drive with 11% containing information classified as sensitive. “CDL deals with all kinds of data bearing IT from PCs and Laptops, to high end servers, storage and networking equipment. This partner program allows us to access training and support from Tabernus that maximises the security and efficiency of our off-site and on-site data wiping processes across all the products we erase. It also gives us access to future software data destruction innovations and ensures we stay at the cutting edge of market knowledge on data destruction across all IT platforms,” explains CDL Managing Director Jean-Pierre Naylor. “This partnership gives our clients peace of mind that they are dealing with a company at the cutting edge of Data Destruction technology and whose software and wrap around processes are fit for purpose in the most secure data environments,” continues Naylor.
Meanwhile, welcoming the partnership, Daniel Dyer, VP of Global Operations at Tabernus said, “With their innovative approach to IT disposal and first class customer service to, a cost effective but highly secure service, CDL are exactly the sort of organisation that we want to team up with.”
With Tabernus currently the only CESG CPA v7.0 Certified data erasure software vendor on the market, it’s easy to see that this will be one partnership that will go from strength to strength.
