The three-day event will be attended by thousands including Doctors / PG Students / Researchers from across the globe to deliberate on all aspects of Diabetes and its complications. The event will have 12 faculties from well-known international medical institutes and about 60 leading national faculties who will share their expert views on the management of Diabetes.

Speaking on the occasion, CEO and Chief Endocrinologist Chellaram Diabetes Hospital Dr A G Unnikrishnan said,“ Diabetes is increasing in pandemic proportions and is an increasing cause of concern for scientists and healthcare providers across the globe. According to International Diabetes Federation, there are more than 415 million people across the world living with Diabetes. According to recent surveys, more than 69 million in India are having diabetes at present. CDI is undertaking various programs to bring Awareness among both urban and rural population as it strongly believes that Education and Awareness are critical in the management and prevention of Diabetes.”

The program also aims to provide a scientific platform for the Physicians/Researchers to share their views on the newer trends in diabetes management. The three-day conference focuses not only on diabetes, but also on all the related areas such as Heart, Kidneys, Eyes, Feet which are often affected by the disease.

International speakers will include Dr Sam Dagogo-Jack, well-known Endocrinologist, Researcher and Former President of the American Diabetes Association, Dr C B Sanjeevi, the Head of Diabetes-Immunology Research Group at Karolinska Institute of Sweden and the recipient of 2017 Pravasi Bharathiya Samman Award, Dr Ananda Basu & Dr Rita Basu from the famous Mayo Clinic in the U.S.A and one of the Chief Investigators working on Artificial Pancreas, Dr Anikka Janson, Head of the Section for Diabetes, Endocrinology, Metabolic Disease and Obesity and a universally acclaimed Paediatric Diabetologist and Dr Roger Mazze, instrumental in development of Ambulatory Glucose Profile and several other well-known Physician/Researchers.

Dr K Srinath Reddy and Dr Soumya Swaminathan have agreed to grace the inaugural function of International Diabetes Summit. Dr K Srinath Reddy is the President of Public Health Foundation of India and recipient of Padma Bhushan Award for his exceptional service in the field of public health. Dr Soumya Swaminathan is the Director General of Indian Council of Medical Research .
